The mayor of Dromolaxia-Meneou municipality, Kypros Andronicou, and DISY municipal councillor, Savvas Kyriakou, have been summoned by police for questioning over mutual allegations of assault.
According to Larnaca Police Directorate Spokesperson Spyros Chrysostomou, the councillor from Dromolaxia-Meneou filed a report on Easter Monday claiming his car window had been smashed while attending Easter events in the area.
The councillor reportedly suspected a particular individual was responsible.
“Yesterday, the same councillor returned to the Kiti Police Station with his wife, alleging they were attacked by the same individual at a Dromolaxia cafe, sustaining injuries,” Chrysostomou said.
“In response, the Mayor of Dromolaxia-Meneou has also filed a report,” Chrysostomou added, “effectively resulting in both parties accusing each other of assault.”
Chrysostomou confirmed that statements would be taken from both parties, along with witnesses present at the cafe during the alleged incident.
“Investigators are also reviewing closed-circuit television footage obtained from the cafe to establish the sequence of events,” Chrysostomou concluded.
