Stelana Kliris’ new film, “Find Me Falling,” starring Harry Connick Jr. and Agni Scott, is set to become the first Cypriot movie on Netflix.
Announced by the Cypriot director, the film has sold its global rights to the US conglomerate and will be available to stream internationally from July 19, 2024. Details on local cinema screenings will be announced soon.
The Cyprus-US co-production, produced by Jupiter Peak Productions (USA) and Meraki Films (Cyprus) with support from Cyprus’ Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Advisory Committee, was entirely shot in Cyprus, from Peyia to Nicosia.
The production was led by the local company Green Olive Films, with a predominantly Cypriot crew and cast of over 150 people. “This is definitive proof that Cyprus is capable of producing world-class films for an international audience and that the world is eager to hear our stories,” said Kliris.
Written, directed, and produced by South African-Cypriot filmmaker Stelana Kliris, along with American producers Steven Shapiro and Keith Arnold, the film features Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actor and singer Harry Connick Jr., Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney, Tony Dimitriou, Lea Maleni, Angeliki Filippidou, Athina Roditou, and Clarence Smith.
In the film, coming off a flop album and his biggest hit’s dwindling popularity, ageing rock star John Allman (Harry Connick Jr.) decides to take a break from his career to reclaim his spark.
He moves to an isolated cliffside home in Cyprus. His dream of keeping a low profile is derailed when he is routinely confronted by desperate souls and later faced with even more complicated surprises when an old flame reignites.
“He’s playing against type as a thoughtful, tattooed, loner rock star,” Kliris told Netflix Tudum. “We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect actor, and on top of that, he wrote two fantastic songs for the film.”
The film is described as a “love letter to Cyprus” by Kliris, hoping to offer audiences a magical escape. “Additionally, there’s nothing better than walking on set next to a cliff with a view of the endless blue Mediterranean horizon. You can’t get a better ‘office view’ than that!” she adds.
