Several members of the Aris Football Club were affected by food poisoning before the match with local rivals AEL this weekend.
According to goal.com.cy, the poisoning reportedly took place during a team gathering, where the consumption of contaminated food led to a mass illness among the squad.
In light of the event, the team’s management alerted the Police to conduct an investigation, to uncover whether the food poisoning was an act of sabotage.
Reports confirm that approximately 20 players, along with the technical staff, were severely affected and required hospitalisation.
Despite the setback, the reigning champions comfortably secured a 4-0 victory against AEL.
