Cheapness is also unaffordable

Relevant News

Everything seems to be auctioned off again at the level of impressions and communication.

While the cost of goods is skyrocketing uncontrollably, squeezing small and medium households viciously, we hardly notice – it’s the carelessness that adorns our days – that from another perspective, everything around us is cheapening and descending into the depths of vulgarity…

A glaring example remains the public discourse articulated by many who parade as candidates, both for Local Government and the European Parliament, dominated by slogan-like speeches and empty promises, which otherwise appear as “visions” for rejuvenation and modernisation at both local and European levels.

Everything seems to be auctioned off again at the level of impressions and communication, with credibility and serious interventionist discourse perpetually invisible.

For our presence in Europe, there cannot be a particularly serious discussion regarding the ability to influence situations, manipulate policies, and even more so, shape the scenes.

Simply because we remain a consistently weak link, sandwiched between giants who persist in setting scenes solely serving their own agendas.

The allure offered by such a position in the European Parliament is indeed so tempting to attract so many interested parties. However, the question remains painfully pressing. How many and who should dare?

And above all, with what guarantees and conditions? The average citizen is bombarded once again about the significance of his vote, yet remains awkward in realising and internalising it.

Simply because daily life increasingly plunges him into the mire of unreliability, which auctions not only the content of speech but mainly actions.

Vulgarity is even more abundant in actions and developments at the level of local government.

Apart from bright exceptions – heaven forbid if those were missing too – the observation is that time is outpacing us regarding rational developments, reconstructions, and mainly reshaping of spaces and places, to the point where the pursuit of quality of life becomes a perpetual summer night’s dream.

Especially with the daring reform, the only thing that doesn’t seem certain is real change. The feeling that sensitivities are exhausted again in positions and agendas is not at all diminishing. On the contrary.

The demand in both cases is to escape from this landscape of cheapness and finally start setting a different scene that exudes credibility and dignity!
