Two men, both Polish nationals aged 69 and 39, were on Thursday jailed for 11 and 13 years respectively for the July 2016 brutal beating of a Latvian who died of his injuries seven months later.
The victim, aged 37, was found by a member of a public with critical head injuries in a park in a Yermasoyia, Limassol.
The two had initially been charged for attempted murder, but after the victim’s death, the charges were amended to manslaughter.
The court heard that the victim was beaten after an argument over money. He had apparently been taken by a friend to a house that was under construction and where the 37 year old was living illegally to return part of the 70 euro he had borrowed.
The victim was in intensive care for three months and was later transferred to a facility for old people where he died, seven months after the incident.
