Relevant News

Two men aged 40 and 27 were arrested early on Friday morning in Limassol after a police chase through the town, and only after police officers had fired a warning shot.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, at 3.30 am, traffic police saw a car moving suspiciously near the old port and determined that it had been reported stolen in Nicosia in June. Traffic police tried to stop the car for checks, but the driver sped off, the police in pursuit. The chase continued even after police fired a warning shot.

It was eventually found abandoned in the Zakaki area, with two men spotted fleeing on foot. They were arrested with police using proportionate force against one of the two who resisted.

They were taken to Limassol police headquarters where it was determined that the two were Turkish Cypriots, residents of Nicosia.

Police are looking for a third person.
