Senior police officer to face disciplinary prosecution over abuse of power

The Law Office has decided that a high-ranking police officer should face disciplinary prosecution following complaints by women subordinates of abuse of power and inappropriate behavior, Philenews reported on Thursday.

The case was reported early in 2021 by women serving in the same office with the accused and the Force’s chief proceeded with the appointment of an officer to investigate the allegations.

Event though the initial complaint was by one female subordinate more followed during the investigation, a number of which were by male officers as well.

The senior officer is accused of exerting psychological violence on his subordinate along with degrading behaviour.

The public prosecutor in the disciplinary trial will be a Law Office lawyer who will also prepare the relevant indictment sheet.

The disciplinary committee has the power to impose penalties from reprimand to forced resignation if deemed necessary. That is, if the offenses are proven serious and recurring.

Philenews was told that after the complaints the accused was transferred to a new position without getting suspended. Something that was slammed by “Equality” police union.
