Roads to close for Nicosia marathon on Sunday

The Transport Ministry has announced that the following roads will be closed on Sunday, February 16 from 6 am to 2.30 pm at the latest because of the Nicosia marathon.

  • Strovolos Avenue (from the junction with Pythonos and Alexandroupoleos Streets to the junction with Archbishop Kyprianou sreet). The lights at the junction will remain in operation for Strovolos Avenue to Pythonos and Alexandropouleos Streets and from Tseri Avenue to Eracleous street in the direction of Stavrou Avenue.
  • Presidential Palace Avenue (section from junction with Archbishop Kyprianou to the junction with Ayii Omologhites Avenue).
  • Demosthenis Severis Avenue (section from the junction with Ayii Omologhites Avenue to the junction with Grivas Dighenis Avenue).
  • Traffic lights of Demosthenis Severis Avenue with Spyros Lambrou Street.
  • Junction of Demosthenis Severis Avenue with Kanaris and Katsonis Streets.
  • Grivas Dighenis Avenue (section from the junction with Demosthenis Severis Avenue to the junction with Archangelou -Metochi Kykkou Avenue).
  • Traffic lights of Grivas Dighenis Avenue with Prodromos Avenue.
  • Archangelos Avenue (section from the junction with Grivas Dighenis Avenue to the junction with Lefkotheou and Makedonitissis — (KCineplex lights).
  • Byron Avenue (section from the junction with Grivas Dighenis Avenue to the junction with Gregoris Afxentiou, opposite Greek embassy.
  • Junction of Byron Avenue with Gregoris Afxentiou.
  • Gladstone Street
  • Michail Karaolis Street
  • October 28 Street (section from the junction with Athalassa Avenue to the junction with Achelos Street).
  • Koritsa Street (section from the entrance to Makarios Hospital which will remain open).
  • Korai Street.
  • Athalassa Avenue (section from the junction with Strovolos Avenue to the junction with Hadjiosif/Akropolis/G Paraskevaides).
  • Hadjiosif Avenue traffic lights with Pericleous and Andreas Avraamides.
  • Hadjiosif traffic lights with Stavrou Avenue.
  • Iosif Hadjiosif (from the junction with Athalassas, Acropolis/G Paraskevaides/ as far as Troodos Street).

Arrangements will be made to divert traffic. The public is urged to be patient and to comply with the temporary road signs and police instructions.
