Police checking compliance with coronavirus decrees on Friday night booked two shops and issued fines in two cases where a small number of people had congregated at houses, CNA reports.

A police spokesman said that from 6 pm on Friday to 6 am on Saturday police had carried out 948 checks on premises and there were six bookings — four in Limassol, one in Nicosia and one in Larnaca.

Among the cases was that of a shop that was open after 10 pm and a second that did not have the appropriate signage.

There were two instances of people other than the residents gathered in houses — in the first there were three visitors and in the second two visitors.

Regarding compliance with the decree on the movement by exception, police carried out 4079 checks of pedestrians and drivers and booked 74 — Nicosia 15, Limassol 24, Larnaca 12, Paphos 10, Famagusta 8 and police HQ traffic unit 5.
