Patient who received first dose of vaccine hospitalized

Relevant News

An 80-year-old man who received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 is being hospitalized at the Famagusta General Hospital, which is operating as Reference Hospital for coronavirus.

Amalia Hatzigianni, scientific director of the General Hospitals of Larnaca – Famagusta, confirmed the fact and explained that this happened because the vaccine did not have the necessary time to create antibodies and act before the man got sick.

She added that unfortunate there is an increase in the number of patients coming to the Hospital and currently the capacity is at 96%. She noted that the numbers are similar to what we had in October and November 2020.

She said that while two weeks ago we only had 70-80 patients all over Cyprus, suddenly we have reached 100-120, something that indicates that the second wave of the pandemic is not over.
