Relevant News

A 34 year old Greek woman was remanded in custody for eight days on Friday following her arrest at Paphos Airport the previous day when customs discovered 25.3 kilos of cannabis packed in 20 nylon bags in her luggage.

Police were on standby following a tip off. The woman sparked their suspicions because of she was acting nervously and her luggage was searched.

She told police investigators after her arrest that she had brought the drugs to deliver to a person she did not know, for a fee. She said she was unemployed and a mother of two children and needed the money. She also admitted that she had brought drugs to Cyprus in the past and was paid €1000.

Police told the court they will be asking for the help of Europol and Interpol to track down the suppliers and other members of the drug ring.

They are also looking for the person who was going to take delivery of the cannabis.

The woman picked up the drugs in Thessaloniki two days ago and from there travelled to Athens. She then flew to Chania and from there to Paphos.
