A 27 year old man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace by throwing fire crackers.
It follows complaints by residents in Larnaca, Aradippou and the the Kokkina, Ayii Anargiri and Tsakilero refugee settlements that they were being disturbed by fire crackers.
Larnaca police today search a number of premises and found 95 Turkish-made fire crackers in the home of the 27 year old. He said he had bought them in Pyla last month for his own use.
He will be questioned by police and will be released to appear in court on a later date, CNA said.
Meanwhile police will step up their patrols in Larnaca, Aradippou and the refugee settlements from 11 pm to 1 am to deter youths who disturb the peace in this way, it added.
