Health Ministry releases list of approved laboratories conducting covid rapid tests

The Ministry of Health on Friday announced a list of laboratories all across Cyprus conducting SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen tests in line with European specifications.

Specifically, those of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, a press release also said.

In addition, the Ministry of Health informs citizens that rapid antigen detection tests using saliva are currently being evaluated at European Union level by the member states.

And that there are still insufficient data from independent clinical studies and their diagnostic value has not been proven.

Therefore, while the completion of the procedure and the issuance of guidelines by the ECDC are pending, the Ministry of Health cannot accept the result of the above tests at this stage.

Moreover based on the Quarantine Law Decree N.2, dated January 8, 2021, the maximum price for a rapid antigen test is set at €20.
