The commissioner for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has reminded in an announcement today that children under 14 need the permission of their parents or legal guardians to use social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc).
The legislation, it was noted, aims to protect children’s personal data. Therefore, all concerned parties — parents, guardians, teachers — are called to educate children on how to be safe on the internet.
Children are advised to share their personal information online only after obtaining their parents’ or guardians’ consent.
