Crunch presidential election candidacy meeting on Monday between Diko-Christodoulides

Relevant News

It seems that Monday is the day for major decisions to be taken by opposition centre Diko when their leadership meet independent 2023 presidential elections runner Nikos Christodoulides.

Diko – kingmaker in previous elections – has expressed an interest in the ruling Disy-affiliated former foreign minister who is now set to challenge Averof Neophytou, his own party’s chosen runner.

The crucial meeting is to take place at 4pm, Philenews reported on Wednesday before adding that this is Diko leadership’s last one focusing on the upcoming election with other political parties and independent candidates.

On Tuesday, they met with independent candidate Marios Eliadis while last week they held talks with  Achilleas Demetriades – another independent election hopeful.

After the meeting with Christodoulides, the Executive Committee will be the first to convene, followed by one by the Central Committee for final decisions.

The most probable date of the Central Committee meeting is June 15, according to insiders.
