The only thing Drousiotis should fear is the truth, Anastasiades says on corruption allegations

Relevant News

Former President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday expressed his approval for the selection of Gabrielle Louise McIntyre to look into allegations of corruption made against him, in the book “Mafia State” by Makarios Drousiotis.

Anastasiades has dismissed the book’s content as “false and unsubstantiated claims of a reproduced fiction that implicates him in acts of corruption.”

Anastasiades has stated in a formal declaration that the investigation’s results ought to be disclosed to the public.

Addressing Drousiotis’ accusations of intimidation, Anastasiades said that this represents a novel discovery in the wake of his own disclosures, while he adds that he should only fear the veracity and the inaccuracies deliberately noted in Drousiotis’ publications.

Moreover, Anastasiades has pointed out that Drousiotis ought to be wary of the deliberate misrepresentation of texts, the contradictory and unfounded assertions, and the inconsistencies, along with the proof that will be presented to the Committee and the Court, which will systematically dismantle the malevolent and defamatory falsehoods.

Anastasiades states, “I am confident that as a lover of truth, he will also have the courage to expose his myths both to the Anti-Corruption Authority and in court. Pending the investigation, I limit myself to the bare minimum.”

Drousiotis, an investigative journalist and author, worked as an aide to President Anastasiades between 2013-2014. Since leaving the Presidential Palace, Drousiotis has written three books accusing the country’s political elite of widespread corruption, based on his experiences collaborating with Anastasiades.
