Strovolos residents call for dog park

Relevant News

In an open letter to the Mayor of Strovolos Andreas Papacharalambous and the members of the Municipal Council, residents bring to attention the ongoing closure of Kissavou Park.

Acknowledging previous malpractices that resulted in the park’s closure, the residents emphasise that its continued shutdown denies the community access to “a significant green space that cannot be effectively utilised by the residents.”

They ask that part of the park be converted into a dog park so that the “need for a space for families and children” is also safeguarded.

“The cost required for adjustments/repairs in this direction will undoubtedly be lower, while the fact that there is already grass and trees in the area will make restoration even easier”, the letter continues.

“It would also provide a significant source of entertainment and relaxation for the residents of the area, who we must emphasise are overwhelmingly pet-friendly”.

In their open letter, the residents further note that there would be no disturbance during evening hours, as it is generally accepted that overcrowding in dog parks, especially on weekdays, is not a common phenomenon.

“We genuinely believe that such a move would significantly improve the quality of life for both the residents and our four-legged friends,” the letter concludes.
