Snowfalls on Troodos and showers over the next three days, clear on Tuesday

A low pressure system is affecting the island, bringing lower temperatures across the country, with the possibility of more snowfalls forecast by the Met Office over the mountains through to Monday, as conditions turn significantly milder on Tuesday.

Clear skies initially today but turning increasingly overcast, with isolated showers expected on the west part of the island and gradually spreading to all areas. Snowfalls or sleet is likely on Troodos. Winds will be light to moderate force three to four over slight seas. Temperatures will rise to 16 degrees Celsius inland, 18 in coastal areas and around 7 on the mountains.

Slightly overcast this evening with light southwesterly to northwesterly winds force three, over slight seas. Temperatures will drop to 6 degrees Celsius inland, 10 in western coastal regions, 8 in the rest of the coastal areas and one over the mountains, where frost will form.

Similar conditions tomorrow and Monday with isolated showers and the possibility of snowfalls or sleet on Troodos. Fine winter skies on Tuesday.

Temperatures will remain around the seasonal average over the next couple of days, then gradually turning higher.

The depth of snow on Troodos square was around 30 centimetres this morning.
