Six-day detention for three over forged documents

A six-day detention order was issued today, Friday, by the District Court of Paphos against three individuals aged 41, 45, and 36 years old to facilitate investigations into a suspected case of conspiracy to commit a felony and the preparation of forged documents.

According to a police statement, in the course of investigating the crimes, the Police proceeded yesterday, Thursday, based on judicial warrants, to arrest three individuals.

The individuals are aged 45, 41, and 36 years old, who were placed under detention to facilitate the investigations.

The said individuals visited a courier company in Paphos yesterday in two separate instances, where they collected two packages.

The packages had been sent to Cyprus by the same sender, with two different individuals as recipients.

In the first instance, the 41-year-old visited the courier company and, after collecting the package, was intercepted by Police officers for inspection.

Upon examination of the package, two driving licences from other European countries were found, bearing the details of two different individuals.

In the second instance, the 44-year-old and the 36-year-old visited the courier company, and after collecting the package, were also intercepted by Police officers for inspection.

Upon examination of the package, a Cypriot residence permit was found, bearing the details of a specific individual.

All three individuals were arrested, based on judicial warrants, for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a felony and preparation of forged documents and were placed under a six-day detention.
