Paphos police have dismantled a group producing counterfeit travel documents, with the arrest of three individuals in Paphos yesterday, Thursday, according to Assistant Police Director of Operations in Paphos, Michalis Nicolaou.

Nicolaou stated that following information received by the Paphos Police and subsequent surveillance, an operation was organised yesterday at a courier service store based on information that counterfeit travel documents had been dispatched and would be collected by foreign individuals.

Subsequently, Nicolaou continued, at 15:25 on Thursday, a 41-year-old individual was observed collecting a package from Turkey at a specific courier office and was intercepted.

Upon inspection of the said package, hidden inside polystyrene, a Greek driving licence and a Bulgarian driving licence were found, in the names of foreign individuals, documents which appear to be fake.

At 16:05 at the same courier service store, two individuals aged 36 and 45 collected a package also dispatched from Turkey.

During an inspection of the package, again hidden in polystyrene, a residence permit form for the Republic of Cyprus was found in the name of one of the two individuals.

The three individuals, the 41-year-old, the 36-year-old, and the 45-year-old, were arrested with judicial warrants and have been placed in custody.

They are facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and fabrication of counterfeit documents.

Investigations into the case are ongoing by the Criminal Investigations Department of Paphos.
