Jean Pierre Lacroix discussed the recent developments in Pyla and the role of UNFICYP during talks on Friday with President Christodoulides and the Turkish-Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, the UN Secretary General’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters during the November 3rd daily briefing to the foreign press.
As the PIO reported, Dujarric said that the UN Under-Secretary for Peace Operations held discussions with the two leaders on the events that unfolded in the buffer zone and the role of UNFICYP in maintaining peace and stability on the island. He added further that Lacroix visited Pyla and stressed that the ‘agreement reached recently on the matter was of substantial importance’. He also met with members of the Committee for Missing Persons.
The Guterres spokesperson further added that the UN official also met with representatives of groups at grassroots level, including women and the youth.
