Relevant News

Today, a 10-year-old, allegedly involved in a case of causing damage at Livadia Primary School, KA, on the afternoon of Holy Saturday, is expected to appear at the Voroklini Police Station with his parents to give a statement.

As stated by Spiros Chrysostomou, spokesperson for the Larnaca Police Directorate, “There is testimony against a 10-year-old, who has been summoned and will appear today with his parents at the Voroklini Police Station to give a statement.”

At the same time, he added, “Police investigations lead to the possibility of other individuals being involved in the vandalism that occurred at Livadia Primary School, who are currently being sought.”

He added that the unknown perpetrators “seem to have set fire to benches and a table located in the school’s outdoor area. Also, it appears that a classroom window was broken, and after entering, they threw books and notebooks on the floor, along with other school equipment.”

Responding to a question, Chrysostomou said, “the school had a guard who spotted the 10-year-old on Holy Saturday and reported it to the Police, while a complaint was also filed on the same day.”

To another question, he mentioned that “when the 10-year-old appears today at the Voroklini Police Station, the procedure followed for minors will be followed, meaning those under 14 years old are legally not responsible.”

“The 10-year-old will give a statement, and all relevant authorities that need to be involved in cases involving minors will be informed,” he added.

Furthermore, he continued, “the Police will attempt to locate other individuals who seem to be involved in the vandalism, as we estimate that the extent of the damage was not solely caused by a 10-year-old.”
