Prison wardens will go on an indefinite strike starting on September 19, an announcement by trade union Isotita said on Monday.
It said that it will go on strike over unkept promises by the Ministry of Justice to upgrade the salary of wardens, as has been done with the salaries of police officers.
It will also protest a recent decision by the Finance Ministry to reject a request to provide a special allowance to wardens, even though the request had the backing of the Justice Ministry.
All 141 members of the union’s board voted in favour of the strike, Isotita said.
