Police set up Troodos measures to facilitate weekend traffic

Relevant News

Looking to prevent further weekend chaos over the mountains, police have taken a series of measures to facilitate traffic on Troodos, particularly when it comes to the movement and parking of tour buses carrying locals and visitors alike for a bit of winter snow and mountain village hospitality.

To make it easier for everyone to have a good time and for their own safety, bus drivers must follow specific routes:

  • Arriving from Limassol: Off the Limassol-Platres road, park right before Troodos square in an area indicated by on-duty officers.
  • Arriving from Nicosia: Bus drivers should head to Saittas and then through the Limassol-Platres road towards Troodos square, where they can park right before the square in an area indicated by police.
  • Arriving from the Morphou area: Head out from the Prodromos roundabout to Trooditissa and then through Limassol-Platres road to Troodos square where they can park in an area indicated by on-duty officers, facilitating traffic.

Even more so on the tougher mountain conditions, as more snowfalls are predicted and frost remains on the roads, police is calling on drivers to strictly adhere to the traffic code and all signs to prevent any accidents.

The public should be fully informed on road conditions prior to travelling up the mountains through relevant police announcements on www.cypruspolicenews.com, Facebook (Facebook.com/cypolice), and the Twitter police account (twitter.com/Cyprus_Police).
