Relevant News

Larnaca Port workers and their employer agreed to resolve their differences through scheduled talks overseen by Labour Minister, Yiannis Panayiotou.

The agreement came a day after workers ended a strike at the port.

During an initial meeting with the minister, the sides decided to engage in scheduled dialogues aimed at resolving discrepancies and implementing previously agreed-upon measures.

“The fluidity of the external environment requires internal stability through cooperation between social partners, employers and employees,” Panayiotou said in a statement after the meeting.

The minister stressed the port’s significance as a critical sector of the Cypriot economy for which “maintaining smooth operations through the amicable cooperation of all parties is significant.”

He expressed satisfaction with both sides’ commitment to dialogue within the framework of the Industrial Relations Code.

Panayiotou added that ongoing talks with his ministry’s help will focus on resolving disputes and avoiding further confrontation.

“I am optimistic that the outcome of this process will be positive,” the minister concluded.
