Incentive program for beach improvement projects

Relevant News

Beaches constitute one of Cyprus’ main comparative advantages as a tourist destination and are among the most popular beaches at the European level.

The Ministry of Tourism is implementing a series of actions for the sustainable development of beaches.

It serves as the National Coordinator of the Blue Flag Program and also supports the “Sand and Sea plastic free” program to limit plastics on beaches.

As part of the implementation of the Tourism Strategy 2030, the Ministry of Tourism announces the commencement of applications under the Project Incentive Scheme for the Quality and Aesthetic Enhancement of Beaches for 2024.

Beneficiaries under this Scheme are the Local Self-Government Authorities (Municipalities and Community Councils). The Scheme includes eligible expenses such as the purchase of equipment, such as beach umbrellas and loungers, pathways, cleaning bins, and infrastructure works, such as sanitary facilities and changing rooms, as well as facilities for people with disabilities.

The deadline for submitting applications has been set for March 29, 2024. Applications can be submitted electronically at the address [email protected]. The Scheme and the application form are posted on the website of the Ministry of Tourism.
