Humanitarian Gaza corridor initiative gains international recognition, government spokesperson states

Relevant News

The significance of the Cypriot initiative to establish a humanitarian corridor in Gaza is acknowledged by numerous countries and organizations, according to the government spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

He asserted that various states have expressed their intention to assist, either by providing humanitarian aid or contributing ships that can participate in implementing the initiative.

The government spokesperson specifically mentioned the United Kingdom’s intention to offer technical support to Cyprus, as reported in today.

“Last week, the first humanitarian aid from the United Kingdom arrived in Cyprus, stored in Larnaca, and the United Kingdom has so far provided one ship,” he stated.

Letymbiotis clarified that the government is working to promote the initiative, adding that the President’s visits yesterday to Egypt and Jordan are relevant to the implementation of the Republic of Cyprus’s initiative, which is at an advanced stage concerning technical matters.

He added that the technical team has returned from Israel on Sunday, where technical issues have also been discussed.

Concluding, he said, “The final implementation of the initiative does not depend on us. What we can do is be ready, have a comprehensive plan, and as soon as conditions allow, the initiative can be put into effect.”
