In response to concerns raised over the welfare of stray dogs in the Troodos area, the Animal Action Group of the Ecologists Movement – Citizens’ Cooperation has announced a proactive measure to gather shelters for their accommodation.
These dogs, reliant on the generosity of local residents and restaurant owners for food, are often left exposed to harsh weather conditions, prompting the urgent need for shelter.
Anthi Mouzouri, coordinator of the Animal Action Group, emphasized the importance of community support in addressing this issue.
The campaign, which commences today, Thursday, February 1, 2024, will operate on a nationwide basis.
Members of the public are encouraged to contribute shelters for the strays, with collection points set up at the offices of the Ecologists Movement – Citizens’ Cooperation across all districts.
“We urge members, supporters of the movement, and citizens passionate about animal welfare to join our efforts by donating shelters for these vulnerable animals,” the party mentions in its statement.
For those interested in contributing, arrangements for drop-off can be made by contacting the Ecologists Movement – Citizens’ Cooperation.
