Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, has raised concerns about the presence of two British military bases in Cyprus, citing them as a threat to both Turkey and the occupied territories of Cyprus.

In an interview with the Turkish newspaper Diriliş Postası, Tatar emphasized the strategic significance of Cyprus, situated at a crucial juncture where Mediterranean trade routes converge.

He asserted that despite the lack of international recognition, the occupied territories hold potential akin to major economic hubs like Dubai.

Tatar also announced the concession of the Lefkoniko airport to the Turkish Armed Forces, citing it as a measure to counter external threats.

Furthermore, Tatar expressed concerns over escalating tensions in the Mediterranean, particularly highlighting the role of British military installations on the island.
