Biden thanks Christodoulides for Gaza humanitarian corridor

The American President, Joe Biden, in a letter to President Christodoulides, expresses gratitude for the implementation of the humanitarian corridor for aid transport to Gaza.

The President had a meeting yesterday evening with the Chief of Staff and Counselor of the White House National Security Council, Curtis Ried, who handed him a letter from President Biden.

In his letter, the President of the USA refers, among other things, to the leadership role, vision, and determination of President Christodoulides regarding the implementation of the highly significant maritime corridor for providing humanitarian aid to Gaza from Cyprus.

He also mentions Cyprus’s close relations with the countries in the region, which were instrumental in realizing this initiative.

President Biden expresses his country’s readiness to actively support Cyprus in implementing the “Amalthea” initiative, referring also to the decision to proceed with the construction of a temporary pier on the shores of Gaza to facilitate and enhance the humanitarian aid intended for the civilian population in Gaza.
