Arrests after Lebanon-Cyprus migrant boat detection

Two more boats were detected off the coast of Cyprus early this morning, following the arrivals reported in previous days.

According to information, the two boats were located at 1 a.m. with a total of 68 people on board.

Following investigations, two individuals aged 26 and 52 from Syria were arrested.

The two boats set sail from the shores of Lebanon destined for Cyprus.

Earlier on Monday, the Port Authorities located three other boats carrying 136 people.

The first boat had 18 people on board, the second had 21 people, and the third had 97 people.

Authorities detained 3 individuals, a 17-year-old from Syria and two individuals from Lebanon aged 22 and 36.
