Animal Party condemns state’s failure in dog welfare

Relevant News

A dog trapped its head in a plastic bottle, with the Animal Party blaming the state’s failure for the painless capture of dogs that either form packs and terrorize citizens, or, left abandoned, attempt to survive in search of food.

As emphasized in a statement by the party, “every time we are all disgraced, both as a state and as a society, and we show our weaknesses and our nudity.”

The Animal Party’s announcement:

The Animal Party of Cyprus has been highlighting for several years the serious and ongoing problem of the inability of either the Local Government or the state to capture dogs painlessly, dogs that form packs and terrorize citizens or are left abandoned, or escape due to our own irresponsibility, and in their attempt to survive in this chaos, they search for food.

The result? These situations worsen, and then we know where this situation leads.

For the umpteenth time, a dog trapped its head in a plastic bottle, and naturally, they proved inadequate for the circumstances once again. How many times have we said that the state should ensure that there are tools that could either trap or anesthetize a dog or dogs? Every time we are all disgraced, both as a state and as a society, and we show our weaknesses and our nudity.

What kind of European state are we, and what do we expect to deal with more serious issues? When such an issue exists and persists for years?

When will we finally coordinate and understand that these ‘perhaps’ small matters create big headaches, and in the end, innocent animals pay for them?

The Animal Party of Cyprus calls on the relevant ministries, the Ministry of Agriculture (Veterinary Services), the Ministry of Interior (Game Service), Local Government (Municipalities & Communities), the Ministry of Justice (Police for Animals), to finally make decisions here and now, and to proceed with the purchase of the special anesthetic weapon, to train people to handle it, so that we do not experience yet another embarrassment.
