Relevant News

The Ministerial Council has decided on five measures against inflation due to the rising cost of living.

The package of measures, amounting to €35.3 million, was announced by the Minister of Finance.

The first measure concerns the extension of the electricity cost subsidy measure for May and June. The estimated cost of the measure is €8 million.

The subsidy will cover household consumers, vulnerable groups, commercial, and industrial consumers.

The second measure involves extending the application of the zero VAT rate for basic items (bread, milk, eggs, baby diapers, etc.), including vegetables and meat, until the end of June. The cost will reach €6 million.

The third measure involves boosting family income as compensation for the horizontal abolition of the measure on fuel tax.

It concerns the provision of targeted one-off support for the months of April, May, and June to specific households receiving benefits from the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, such as child benefit recipients and single-parent families.

The fourth measure involves a one-off payment of €100 monthly to beneficiaries of mobility allowance from the Department of Social Inclusion.

The fifth measure concerns boosting the income of low-income pensioners – affecting 18,000 individuals – with a monthly amount of €100.
