A multifunctional park, which will include spiral pedestrian walkways, a lake, a botanical garden, and panoramic sea views, is set to connect the west with the east of part of Ayia Napa, enriching its tourism offering.

The Ayia Napa Municipality has launched a tender for the construction works, which will cost €3.625 million.

Interested parties can submit their bids until April 22, with the winning bidder having 16 months to complete the project. The initiative is part of the Cohesion Policy Programme THALIA 2021-2027, co-funded by the EU.

The park, covering an area of 34,000 sq.m., will be located near the centre of the tourist area, where the Ayia Napa Cultural Centre was previously housed.

According to the design, a network of spiral-shaped pedestrian walkways will be created, along which infrastructure and spaces for multiple activities and uses will be established.

The park will feature a central square, an artificial lake, a botanical garden, a mosaic park, a children’s playground, and an observatory at the highest point to offer visitors panoramic views of Ayia Napa and the sea.

Additionally, one of the park’s areas will serve as an outdoor market for selling local products.

Speaking to Phileleftheros, Ayia Napa Mayor Christos Zannettou stated that the project is expected to be completed by 2025.
