Construction materials index falls 2.21%

A decrease of 2.23% on an annual basis was recorded in the first two months of the year by the Construction Materials Index, reflecting the moderation in material prices in the construction sector.

According to data from the Statistical Service, in February, the Index stood at 116.95 units (based on 2021=100), showing a decrease of 0.06% compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index recorded a decrease of 2.21%. This marks the seventh consecutive month of annual decline.

According to Cystat, significant reduction, reaching 8%, was recorded in metal products, while products made of wood, insulation materials, chemicals, and plastics saw a decrease of 0.73%.

On the other hand, small increases were noted in minerals by 1.22%, in mineral products by 0.54%, and in electromechanical goods by 0.35%.

The monthly Construction Materials Price Index shows the evolution of the cost of materials borne by the contractor.
