Almyra Hotel: A place made in heaven

Relevant News

Almyra, one of the finest hotels in the Mediterranean and a member of the Thanos family of hotels that brought us Anassa and Annabelle, has reopened its doors to visitors in the spring of 2020 following a multi-million euro renovation.

These enhancements were overseen by leading French designer JoĆ«lle PlĆ©ot, who has been working with the group for many years. The new rooms and suites were updated with custom-made furniture in PlĆ©otā€™s signature sleek style – think clean lines and varying shades of blue inspired by the Mediterranean Sea that surrounds the island – while local craftsmen have been entrusted and created handmade oak and olive tree tables and accessories with other soft furnishings using silk and leather.

In keeping with the nautical theme, artwork by local photographer Michalis Kouloumos depicting scenes from the seafront of Paphos was placed in all bedrooms. In-room entertainment has been modernised, with the addition of smart TVs in every room. All of the bathrooms were fitted with brand new luxurious Italian Carrara marble walk-in showers.

Located only a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the Paphos castle promenade yet privately tucked away with a view of the stunning and serene Alykes Beach, Almyra Hotel offers a unique retreat near the heart of the historic Kato Paphos and is suitable for families, couples and individuals alike while entrepreneurs will not be short of inspiration working from one of its bungalows with the Mediterranean as a backdrop.

BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW

Breakfast at Almyra is an experience like no other; upon arrival at the breakfast area guests are allocated a table outdoors with a view of the pool, the garden and the Mediterranean in the background.

The extremely attentive yet diligently discreet staff will start by asking how you take your eggs and coffee and will serve these to you while they encourage you to also take a tour of the highly interesting buffet indoors and help yourself with anything further you may wish to enjoy; from granola yoghurt with mixed fruit to local delicacies like shoushouko – all freshly prepared and sourced locally – and a large variety of breads, cheeses and charcuterie, there is something for everyone at Almyra’s mouth-watering breakfast buffet.

OUZERI: CYPRIOT FLAVOURS WITH A TWIST

Indulge in Cypriot specialities with a contemporary touch at Almyra’s seafront taverna ‘Ouzeri’ served in an idyllic environment beneath romantic pergolas, always with a view of the Mediterranean.

Combine your meal with a glass of ouzo or one of the delicious wines on offer while enjoying the live Greek traditional music from a local band to complete your Greek dining experience.

Stuffed beef fillet with hiromeri and halloumi served with commandaria sauce. Heaven!

Haloumokeftedes: Halloumi-stuffed meatballs. Must-try!

Delicious baked feta cheese in filo pastry with tomato jam.

NOTIOS: MODERN CUISINE WITH TOP-NOTCH WINE LIST

Winner of the Top Notch Award, Notios restaurant in Almyra’s verdant gardens serves modern dishes on a covered terrace with contemporary and cosy seating.

A large part of Notios’ menu is dedicated to new style sushi. The entrees are very exciting with a fusion, cosmopolitan slant. The wine list is excellent.

Make sure you try the black cod fillet served with cashews and lime crust, grilled Chinese cabbage, pickled ginger and spicy miso.

Equally delicious is the beef fillet with shitake mash potatoes and teriyaki sauce.

MEDITERRANEO AT ANNABELLE

Take a short walk next door to Almyra’s sister hotel Annabelle to enjoy Italian gastronomy cooked to perfection using locally sourced organic produce.

This atmospheric seafront taverna takes diners on a unique culinary journey into authentic Mediterranean flavours using seasonal ingredients sourced directly from local farmers, fishermen and artisans.

We liked the Macinapepe, a pecorino romano and crushed black peppercorn risotto infused with local lemon zest and Firenze, the charcoal-grilled Angus beef Rib Eye with rocket leaves, cherry tomato and Reggiano parmesan which is also available in its vegan version.

Dine at Mediterraneo for lunch or dinner for a genuine Mediterranean culinary experience in the heart of Paphos.
