You should retract Mr Hartsiotis

Relevant News

The Minister of Justice’s statements were ill-advised and totally unacceptable when he targeted the media for complaining about the lack of information from the Police.

The Cyprus Police have long been concealing from the public extremely serious cases that have nothing to do with issues of national security. Mr Hartsiotis accuses us of not highlighting the Police’s recent successes and of only focusing on the negatives because that’s what ‘sells’.

But what successes is he talking about? A real success story, which would also be popular, would be to see the Police finally bringing to justice the dealers who flooded schools with drugs or the masterminds behind these criminal actions to control the underworld.

And another thing. In democracies, Mr Hartsiotis, journalists can exercise their right to criticise whatever they deem necessary and use independent sources beyond official information, which is non-existent anyway. Only in totalitarian regimes do we hear such positions, and for this reason, you should immediately retract your statement.
