The Cabinet decided to transfer the responsibility for implementing projects in Akamas from the Department of Forests to the General Directorate of Environment within the Ministry of Agriculture.
But why?
Did the Department of Forests lack the capability, or did it serve specific interests, allowing such significant damage to occur in Akamas while insisting that everything was fine?
Will we ever find out, or does the change in project leadership (and the removal of the director of the Department of Forests) mark the closure of the accountability issue?
