Theodoros Eleftheriou, Limoncello’s Deli- Bar executive chef, loves night wandering in the old city of Nicosia and Protaras as well, mostly for its crystal-clear waters. Here, he reveals his favorite places.
– Where do you like to enjoy your morning coffee?
I usually visit Brew Lab, since I hang out there with my friends, when we have free time.
-Which is your favorite city yard?
Well, I really love the yard at my grandmother’s house, a place that definitely provides me with wonderful, pleasurable memories. Until today, my grandmother’s yard is the place for family gatherings and feasts.
-Where can you find the best souvlaki in Nicosia?
Actually I’m not really fond of souvlaki, but if I have to choose, then Niki’s Souvlaki is the best for me!
-Where do you find authentic meze dishes?
Undoubtedly, I suggest Patrikon restaurant. I admire their job and the food there is absolutely amazing!
-Which is your favorite food venue in the city?
Venezia Pizza in Kaimakli. Kotsio’s homemade burgers are just beyond amazing!
-Could you reveal a well-hidden city gem?
– In the evening, you can take a long walk at Ledras’ street! A simple yet romantic date night idea, especially for the weekdays!
– A restaurant that holds a special place in your heart? A recommended dish?
-I really like Rokoko, an amazing restaurant that combines elegant, casual atmosphere with high-quality food. Take notes: Spoil yourself with nutella & mascarpone calzone, a dessert out of this world!
– Which is your favorite kind of cuisine and where you can enjoy it in Cyprus?
My place, Limoncello, offers an excellent, vibrant cuisine. For me, it is extremely important to have the best ingredients to work with, in order to create modern, colourful and flavoursome dishes.
-And the best, timeless place to hang out?
-Xalara café at Phaneromenis’ square, a street coffee house for relaxing. A place- to-be for the locals, to enjoy ouzo and more!
-Any cocktails recommendations?
-Lost+ Found Drinkery is a must for high-quality cocktails. There, we reached out to some of Cyprus’ best mixologists, who reveal various versatile recipes for unbelievably delicious cocktails. Definitely, Lost+ Found taught us that there are many more cocktails out there than a simple mojito or a classic margarita!
-Where do you usually go for delightful sweets?
-Well, Noufaro patisserie is a great option to satisfy your chocolate cravings with irresistible chocolate cake. When I want red velvet, then I’ll visit Boutique Patisserie. And last but not least, try San Remo for bourekia!
-Which place do you remember fondly?
– Protaras, with its crystal-clear beaches, holds a special place in my heart. Protaras makes me realize that my home country is truly unlike any other place.
