A 58 year old woman involved in a collision near Avgorou on Sunday was driving more than six times over the legal limit, police said on Monday.
The collision occurred at around 7 pm on the Avgorou -Frenaros road when under conditions being investigated the car driven by the woman crashed into a National Guard double cabin truck that was in front. The driver lost control of the truck, it went off the road and overturned in a field.
There were no injuries.
The woman underwent an alco-test with a final reading of 148 μg% which is nearly seven times the legal limit of 22 μg%.
She was taken home and is expected to be charged today to appear in court on a later date. Police said she is a resident of a village in the Famagusta district.
