Explore Akamas natural wonders with free tours every Saturday

The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism is promoting a free full-day excursion to the Akamas peninsula to promote several points of interest and increase visitation to the area.

The excursion will take place every Saturday as a pilot trial for June and July 2024.

Here’s what is included in the excursion:

  • The tour starts at 09:15 am from the bus stop at the Archaeological Park of K. Paphos and it is carried out by bus.
  • It passes along the coastal area and through the forest of Pegeia it reaches the first stop, the community of Arodes and the Akamas Geology and Paleontology Information Center. Visitors there can explore exhibits and displays that highlight the geological history and paleontological findings of the Akama Peninsula.
  • Afterwards, a quick stop is made in the village square of Arodes for a coffee or refreshment break. (Beverages are NOT included in the excursion)
  • Next stop, at the community of Inia and a visit to the newly opened Innia – Lara Turtle Museum. Visitors can immerse in the world of sea turtles and learn about their biology, behaviour and conservation efforts. There is a unique opportunity to learn about the threats facing sea turtles and the initiatives aimed at protecting these majestic creatures. Interactive tools, videos and rich photo galleries are available.
  • Then travel for a visit to the village of Drousia and the Information Centre of Akamas Rural Life and Traditions. Great opportunity to explore the Museum and watch local people creating culture. Workshops/live representation of Local arts and Crafts available.
  • At noon, transfer to the neighbouring village of Kathikas to visit the Akamas Avifauna and Flora Visitor Centre. Visitors can expect to see exhibits showcasing the diverse birdlife and plant species found in the Akamas peninsula, through interactive applications, photos and videos.
  • Free time for lunch at a local restaurant/cafe or for a stroll around (lunch is NOT included in the excursion)
  • At about 15:30, departure for Pafos with expected arrival at 16:15 at the parking lot of the Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos. The excursion ends here.

This initiative is part of the support measures for the Akamas communities announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and it is financially supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
