Easter festivities in Kaimakli

The Municipality of Nicosia, to keep traditions and heritage alive, is once again organizing an Easter event this Easter Tuesday at Agia Varvara Square in Kaimakli, from 16:00 to 20:00.

As stated in an announcement, the program includes traditional games and competitions (egg races, sack races, tug of war, rope skipping, etc.) by the 71st Scouts of Kaimakli and songs and dances by the folklore groups “Akrites Yeriou” and “Grigoris Assiotis” of Omonia Assia.

During the event, there will be sales of souvlaki, crepes, waffles, popcorn, loukoumades, coffees/frappes, traditional sweets, handmade crafts, and more, by parent associations of A’ & B’ Primary Schools of Kaimakli, EKYSY, and the 71st Scouts of Kaimakli.

Additionally, at the traditional café in Kaimakli Square, among other things, Cypriot coffee, lemonade, and mahalepi will be sold.

Traditional flute maker, Charalambos Charalambous, will explain their construction technique, offering melodies to attendees. Also, Eleni Rimba will talk about the folk craft of embroidery and weaving, exhibiting her works. Admission will be free.

Similar events are being organized by other municipalities and communities across Cyprus.

Yesterday, Easter Monday, in Ayia Napa, an event was organized with swings, dances, traditional Easter games, and a theatrical performance. Aglantzia Municipality organized an event on Bright Monday with music, dance, traditional games, and customs.

Events are also taking place in Livadia Larnaca and Paralimni.
