Cyprus’ relationship with the US is constantly improving said Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou, today.
Asked to comment on Donald Trump’s statement that “Cyprus is a valuable partner of the US”, Prodromou said that “Cyprus’ relationship with the US has been constantly improving in recent years,” and that “it is in this direction that Cyprus will continue seeking its role in the global system. But at the same time Cyprus should continue being useful to its strategic allies.”
Last week, DISI President Averof Kyprianou and AKEL General Secretary Andros Kyprianou had a public spat on Twitter regarding Cyprus’ role in the global system, after the former said that “Cyprus belongs in the West.”
Kyprianou responded by saying that Neofytou should be careful when talking about Russia, because the country “has a valuable and long-standing relationship with Cyprus and maintains a principled position on the Cyprus problem.”
