Two women fined €1,500 each for flouting stay-at-home decree, stealing potatoes

Two women aged 49 and 46 were fined €1,500 each on Tuesday by the Paphos District Court after admitting to flouting the stay-at-home decree, stealing potatoes and illegally possessing property, the CNA reports.

The women, both Georgian nationals, were arrested after two bags of potatoes were found in their possession by a member of Paphos police that they had stolen from a field in Yeroskipou.

The women were seen gathering potatoes and placing them in plastic bags.

Further investigations revealed that the two had stolen potatoes before.

Two bicycles were also found in their possession which they did not provide sufficient explanations for, while they also failed to present the required evidence for their movement as required by the lockdown decree on Covid-19.
