Police issued 111 fines to individuals and two more to shop owners all across Cyprus over the past 24 hours for breaching measures aiming to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Cyprus is in lockdown until January 31.
Police had carried out a total of 10,773 checks, 46 of which concerned movement without sending SMS for approval while the rest were for the non-use of a mandatory protective mask.
In Nicosia, 2,638 checks were carried out and 22 individuals got fined, 2,178 checks in Limassol led to 51 citizens getting fines and 1,462 checks in Larnaca led to 12 individuals and one shop getting fined.
Out of 920 checks in Pafos nine individuals and one shop got a fine, 2,121 checks in Famagusta led to 15 individuals getting fines and 836 checks in Morphou led to two individuals handed fines
Port and Marine Police also carried out 29 checks with no fines handed out.
