Tonight to be the coldest night of the winter, Met office says

Thursday night is expected to be the coldest night of the winter, Director of Meteorological Service Kleanthis Nicolaides told CNA.

He said Thursday evening will be a cold night with clear weather.

“It’s the fist time, since October 1, when we started recording data for the winter season, that we record so low temperatures,” Nicolaides said.

Temperatures will be 5 C inland, 8 on the coasts and 2 C in the mountains. Frost that formed overnight is expected to remain in certain areas.

Friday will be mainly fine with intervals of cloud. Temperatures will be 16 C inland and on the coasts and 3 C in the mountains. Temperatures will be two to three degrees below the average for the time of year.

On Saturday the weather will be cloudy at intervals with a possibility of showers afternoon. There may be sleet or snow in the higher peaks.

Sunday and Monday will be cloudy with a possibility of showers and/or storms. Snow is expected in the mountains.

Temperatures will start edging up on Sunday to the average for the time of year.
