Three minors arrested in connection with pub burglary

Police arrested three minors to facilitate investigations into a burglary of a pub in the Famagusta District on May 7.

According to police, the owner reported that between 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm the pub had been broken into and that the perpetrators stole money, two loudspeakers and the cash register.

Officers who arrived at the location to search for evidence, found the cash register in a nearby field.

On Thursday night, police arrested a 16 year old after receiving testimony linking him to the burglary. They also found half a gram of cannabis in his possession. According to police the 16 year old is involved in four separate cases of theft from slot machines.

Another 16 year old and a 17 year old were later arrested in connection with the pub burglary. Officers who searched their houses found two loudspeakers. Police say that they did not provide sufficient justification as to how they acquired them and were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of property.

The suspects are in custody.

Police are continuing investigations.
