The Santouto musical troupe to perform “Oriental Journey”

Relevant News

The folk musical troupe Santouto will take us on a journey to the Greek East, performing traditional music from Constantinople, Asia Minor and Smyrna, at the “Roof 19” of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Faneromeni, Nicosia.

Combining the santur with the qanun, traditional string instruments, the group brings you magical melodies from the Near East. Tunes from those jovial years of yore that mesmerize, touch the heart and entertain, with fresh and original arrangements.

Santouto comprises four musicians (santur, violin, lute and vocals) and a sound engineer. It will be a joint performance guest-hosting the Greek artist Stefanos Dorbarakis, a master qanun player.

The group came about in October 2015. Their repertoire is mainly directed to the traditional genre, including songs and tunes from Cyprus, Asia Minor, Constantinople, Smyrna, Thrace, the Aegean islands and elsewhere.

They have been cooperating with established musicians and participated in radio and TV productions, in festivals and concerts in Cyprus and abroad.

The performers:

Stefanos Dorbarakis, Veronica Aloneftou, Giorgos Lambrou, Constandina Xenofondos, Charalambos Panteli and Chritos Christodoulou
