Sunshine will prevail in Cyprus from Wednesday up until the end of the Christmas weekend, according to the island’s Meteorological Service whose forecasts, however, have come under strong criticism.
Especially after last weekend’s orange weather warnings over ‘Carmel’ thunderstorm which was meant to be ferocious but ended up being much milder and exaggerated.
Something that has angered the Mediterranean island’s business and retail world since people stayed indoors after the terrifying warnings – days only before the festivities and busiest time for shops.
In the end, ‘Carmel’ did bring rain, thunderstorms, snow and winds but it was far from severe and caused only minor and isolated damages.
The issued alerts were valid from Saturday at 9 pm until Monday at 1 pm and even referred to winds as forceful as 8 to 9 Beaufort.
As for snow falling, light snow will fall on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday on the highest peaks of Troodos mountains but sunny days are on the way.
