Loizos Tzionis, 33, suspected of murdering a couple in their Strovolos home last April, appeared in court today and change his plea, denying any involvement in the case.
During his last court appearance on June 13, Tzionis had pleaded guilty to seven of eight charges that include premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, robbery and kidnapping.
Tzionis now denies that he was involved in the murder, the robbery and the kidnapping.
The other three defendants – Tzionis’ half-brother Lefteris Solomou, 23, Tzionis’ former girlfriend Saras Siance, 21 and Marios Hadjixenophontos, 22 – have all pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The trial is set to resume on November 19.
George Hadjigeorgiou and Dina Sergiou were found stabbed to death at their home in what police said was a botched robbery. Their teenage son who had been locked in a cupboard managed to free himself and seek help from the neighbours.
